Why Work for ROADS?
ROADS is seeking those who believe in the power of…
We believe in student-centered schools and a teacher-driven profession.
We believe educators are masterful facilitators of exploration, discovery and
learning, not messengers. Our teachers are best in class. Literally.
We believe in the inherent good of all students and that small changes make
a huge difference. At ROADS, yesterday is not today.
We are on fire about our mission! We believe a vibrant, intellectual and joyful community for adults creates a vibrant, intellectual and joyful community for young people. We believe teaching IS social justice.
We believe there are many ROADS to success for young people. Rather than lock our students into one, therefore, we work to unlock the human potential and artistic spirit that lies within us all. Our team is hopeful, optimistic, solutions oriented and exudes a sense of possibility. Cynics not welcome. We believe education is the engine of transformation; together, we believe we can close the gap between the world as it is and the world as it should be.

About Community Partners:
At ROADS, we are committed to providing young people with access and opportunities to develop their academic, socio-emotional, and 21st century career readiness skills. This work calls us to partner with best-in-class organizations to provide impact in three areas:
- Fostering a community of practice
- Developing a robust student and family support network
- Creating multiple pathways to career readiness and exploration
As community public high schools, ROADS schools rely heavily on the support and contributions of partners to identify, recruit, and engage the highest-need students from across New York City. The vast and varied needs of our student population – ROADS gives preference in our lottery to young people who are homeless or in transitional housing, court-involved, and/or involved in the child welfare system – require that we leverage the resources of government, community-based organizations, and academic and medical institutions to have the greatest possible impact.
How to become a Community Partner:
ROADS seeks to participate actively in the most important city, state, and national conversations about education reform, juvenile justice, and adolescent socio-emotional and career development. Doing so informs the continued development of our model and gives voice to a constituency of young people who historically have not been served well by traditional education systems.
